Quality Software

Hidden among the billions of websites on the internet are software gems that in some cases perform as well as or better than their commercial counterparts. There are a many programs out there that may even run on your computer. I will note what operating systems are used and when was the last time I used the software along with its notable features.

Motivation

Great efforts were made to construct the software mentioned on this blog and I believe a good way to reward the creators who keep their work free is to help keep the spotlight on their work. This is free publicity for free work.

I am not compensated by the creators of the software mentioned here and in many cases am not affiliated at all

The opinions here are my own and do not reflect anyone or anything else.

Enjoy!

One of my favorite features is the list of colors that are already in your image to the right of the color selector, this makes it easy to keep yourself confined to a given set of colors. I accidentally turned on the Wrap mode that allows your brushes to wrap from one edit to another similar to the way the ship moves in Asteroids. Turning any brush into an eraser is a handy trick but after a while I kept reaching for the undo button from the menus. Final Result Animation Without reading any documentation I jumped right into the animation section of Krita and through sheer trial and error I managed to whip up something quick. This will not win any awards, but you can see how you can get a quick animation up...
